Good evening all,

My apologies for the tardiness in seeing out the agenda.

  1. Devotional

  2. Approve the minutes from Jan 24, Feb 7, Feb 9, Feb 14 see noted changes for Feb 9 and 14 below

  3. 7:15 PM Bp. Alan Hawkins

  4. 8:00 PM Jens Notstad and Paul Wolfe from Greenhouse (I've copied Helen K's questions below)

  5. DRT Task Force - next steps on Phil Ashey’s counsel to us and a motion giving Bp. John the authority to discipline clergy

  6. Emails for follow up:

    1. [redacted] (this was addressed to Foley, do we the BC need any further response?)

    2. Survivors letter - does anything more need to be discussed on this? Comm team suggested letting our clergy know about the letter.

    3. [redacted]

  7. Meet on April 4th (and 25th) instead of April 11th (Holy Week)

From Feb. 9th, Fr. Paul requested that the sentence: "Scott / the Province did not acknowledge Jim Sweeney’s involvement in Alec’s document.” be struck from the second paragraph of the minutes on page two. While the sentence is factual, it’s an editorial statement rather than a record of what Scott Ward or others said in the meeting.

From Feb. 14th, Helen Buchanan requested since there are two Helens now on the Council, the minutes should read that Helen K. disagreed regarding waiting to hear from Jens before proceeding with motions about lay catechists.

HELEN KEUNING'S QUESTIONS for GH: I do have a few specific questions for the Greenhouse folks:

#1 — What is the structure of the Greenhouse Movement and how does it intersect with the Greenhouse Deanery? That is, specifically,

— Who all is on the board of the GH Movement?

— Who is in charge of that Movement now that William Beasley retired?

— What are their Bylaws & Canons?

— How do the Greenhouse Churches/Congregations/Priests & Rectors in our UMD Diocese work being under 2 separate organizational structures — GH Movement + UMD Diocese? That is, is their primary “duty of submission” to whomever is in William Beasley’s role right now or to Bishop Stewart (or whomever is leading the UMD)?

This relationship between GH Movement and our UMD Diocese has never been clear to me. And it hasn’t seemed very clear to the BC either so I think it’s important to hammer out these details and see what Jens Notstad/Paul Wolfe’s understanding of these relationships, authority, reporting structure is?

#2 — What is the process of oversight of Lay Catechists in the broader GH Movement and/or, specifically, in the GH churches in our UMD? That is,

— How are they selected or asked to be Lay Catechists?

— Do they have to be screened in any way? If so, how deep or broad does this screening go?

— And who in the GH churches hold these folks accountable for their conduct?

— Do they do support raising? Are they paid in any manner? Are they considered legal employees (under the control of or receiving benefits from GH Movement/Churches)? Or are they “Independent contractors” in their work capacity? Or, are they completely voluntary and receive no money and no other type of compensation (health benefits, vacation time, etc)?

I (BD) would also like to know how GH works with other dioceses? How do those structures differ from our relationship with GH with regards to employment for both clergy and laity / catechists, financial support (churches tithing to their diocese vs giving to GH), training, discipline. Are there policies or written guidelines that other diocese have with GH that we could view to help us understand how other ACNA diocese work with GH?
